The gourmet room featured toga-clad waitresses feeding diners grape and carrying wine carafes on their shoulders. That opening on August 5, 1966, brought one of the most over-the-top dining experiences the city had ever seen - the Bacchanal Room. The duo opened the opulent resort that ushered in an era of lavish casinos on the Strip in 1966, and decided to remove the possessive apostrophe from the name to let everyone feel as if they were a Caesar, at least for one day. When visitors stay at Caesars Palace, they can blame Jay Sarno and Stanley Mallin for making them feel like a Caesar.
